Stedy Théodore

Visual artist & researcher

Stedy Théodore is a Paris-based visual artist whose work maintains a constant dialogue with his native island, Martinique. His multidisciplinary practice, ranging from painting to video and olfactory installations, examines the bearing of socio-anthropological predispositions on contemporary creation. This twofold approach, combining research and artistic practice, finds its focus in a doctorate that seeks to analyse and objectify the dynamics of the art world in Martinique.

Alongside his visual work, Stedy is active in the fashion industry as a producer and consultant, an experience that informs his thinking on image and staging. His world is a continual search for balance between academic rigour and sensory experimentation.

His time at 150 m d’altitude offers an opportunity to test his theoretical research against material and fieldwork. Stedy is using this immersion to explore how new technologies and digital tools can serve as instruments for reading and decoding local artistic practices. His residency is a laboratory in which he seeks to fuse sociological analysis with visual innovation, offering a fresh perspective on Martinican cultural identity.
