GMX (Guy-Marc Vadeleux) is a Martinican pianist, composer and performer whose music lies at the crossroads of jazz, Caribbean rhythms and world music. Deeply rooted in Antillean culture while remaining open to international influences, his practice explores the freedoms of jazz in dialogue with popular traditions, from bèlè to biguine, from zouk to Cuban rumba.
Born into a family of artists, he grew up in an environment where music and creativity held a central place. Drawn to the piano from an early age, he developed an ear and a musical sensibility that led him to explore a wide range of sonic worlds. His discovery of jazz marked a decisive turning point, leading him to pursue his training in Cuba, at the Instituto Superior de Arte in Havana, where he refined his musical language and his approach to improvisation.
Through his albums and collaborations, GMX creates music that is free, sensitive and generous, infused with the spirit of the Tout-Monde. Moving between original compositions, reinterpretations and dialogues with musicians from many backgrounds, he builds a world in which jazz becomes a meeting place for cultures, traditions and contemporary imaginations.
