Silvia Gaillard
Actor, dancer & stage director
Silvia Gaillard has worked as an actor, dancer and stage director for more than thirty years. Trained in theatre and live performance, she discovered motion capture in the late 1990s and became one of its pioneers in France. Approaching the technology as an extension of the body and of performance, she uses it to bring movement, acting and direction together within a single expressive dynamic. Drawing on a career rooted in creation and interpretation, she has developed a distinctive practice where gesture, presence and digital experimentation meet.
Driven by a deep commitment to passing on her knowledge, Silvia Gaillard has for many years taught acting and dance to a wide range of audiences — professionals, amateurs, children, adults and people with disabilities. In 2023 she founded France’s first motion capture training programme, designed for actors, stunt performers, and video game and audiovisual technicians. Through this initiative she champions a humanist, creative approach to digital performance, while working towards greater representation of women in motion capture and in technology-driven creative fields.
